TIRANA– The World Bank published on Tuesday the 2015 Ease of Doing Business ranking showing an improvement in Albania by 6.3 points, raising the country’s position from 108th in 2014 to 68th out of 189 economies.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama Wednesday called the leap forward “good news for anyone who wants to see an Albania of labor and entrepreneurship” on his Facebook account.

Albanian minister of economic development, trade and entrepreneurship, Arben Ahmetaj described this improvement as great news for the business climate in the country and the economy as a whole.

“The new economic model has started to work,” Ahmetaj wrote on his Facebook account.

The annual economic overview on the best practices for the business climate concluded that last year the country implemented sweeping reforms on a national scale to improve the regulatory framework.

The report stressed that economies making progress in regulatory procedures and strengthening institutions that support trade, business and entrepreneurship are better able to achieve economic growth and powerful development.

The section on Albania said Albania had made operating and starting a business easier by lowering registration fees, making land and construction permits easier to obtain, and making transferring property easier by establishing effective time limits and computerizing the records on immovable property.
