Korporata Elektroenergjetike Shqiptare (KESH) invites expressions of interest from consultants to develop a dam safety program and emergency preparedness plans for the 500-MW Fierze, 600-MW Komani, and the 250-MW Vau i Dejes hydroelectric projects on Albania’s Drin River. Responses are due April 19.
KESH, the Albanian power corporation, took bids in 2012 for spillway gates and stoplogs as part of the rehabilitation of Fierze (also called Fierza) and Komani. KESH has a list of high priority dam safety work for the three hydropower stations, which supply 95 percent of Albania’s power.
The utility now invites expressions of interest from consultants to develop a dam safety program with best practices for risk management, assessment, and analysis methodology. It also seeks emergency preparedness plans for each dam, review of the organization of the KESH dam safety department, and staff training.
KESH said it needs a firm with practical experience in the work and requires consultants to be “dam owner based firms with a significant hydro portfolio in operation.” Work is to be performed between December 2013 and June 2014.
Expressions of interest in hard copy or electronically are due April 19 to the address below, labeled “Expression of Interest for Strengthening of Dam Safety Program, Implementation of Risk Studies Methodology, and Preparation of Emergency Preparedness Plans.”
